Background

The history of Kis-My-Ft2 dates back to April 2004, with the formation of the original seven-member unit, Kis-My-Ft. However, the group underwent a few member changes and was down to four members by 2005. In August 2005, Kis-My-Ft and another Jr. unit, ABC Jr., were combined to form the new eight-member unit, Kis-My-Ft2. Although one member left in March 2006, the seven members continue to grow stronger together and have become one of the top Johnny's Jr. unit ☆

As with the previous formation, the first letter of each member's last name spells out the group name.

Rollerskating Rainbow Unit ☆

In December 2006, the members of Kis-My-Ft2 produced an episode of the Johnny's Jr. TV program, The Shounen Club, and chose kosei (individuality) as the theme of the show. Kitayama explained that they want the personalities of each of the seven members of the group to shine so that together, they can be a beautiful unit, just like the seven colors of the rainbow ♥

The group is distinguished from other groups by their specialty in performing on rollerskates, which is reminiscent of the former Johnny's group, Hikaru Genji. They occasionally perform a few of their songs as well.

Appearances

Aside from performances in Johnny's Jr. concerts and regular appearances on The Shounen Club, the members of Kis-My-Ft2 can be seen performing as back-up dancers for debuted Johnny's groups such as Tackey & Tsubasa, NEWS, and KAT-TUN, as well as participating in supporting roles in JE musicals such as DREAM BOYS, Takizawa Hideaki Enbujou, and SUMMARY 2008.

In fall 2008, they headlined a series of concerts in a collaboration with fellow Jr. unit, ABC, entitled ABC Kis-My-Ft2 First Concert in Yokohama Arena. It was originally announced that they would hold 2 concerts at Yokohama Arena in October, but due to popular demand, they added an additional 3 shows. They also added 2 more shows in November, this time with the newly-formed unit ABC-Z at Yoyogi Stadium. Both units have yet to debut, but this was a major step forward for the boys~

In summer 2009, they starred in their first lead roles in the musical PLAYZONE, taking over from their senpai group, Shounentai :D

In fall 2009, the boys headlined their very own national concert tour, Kis-My-Ft2に逢えるでShow (Kis-My-Ft2 ni Aeru de Show), from October 3 through December 27! ♪

In spring 2010, the boys are headlining another national concert tour, Kis-My-Ft2 Spring Concert 2010, from March 30 through May 5. There will be 11 shows across 6 cities: Yokohama, Fukuoka, Sendai, Hokkaido, Hiroshima, and Osaka ☆
